North Powder
Union County, 97867
The North Powder river flows thru this little town on it way eastward to join the Snake river at Brownlee reservoir. Established about 1865 the town survived on rail road activity and lumber milling. Up until 1930 an ice house provided ice to the Pacific Fruit Express. Fire claimed that operation. Now connections to the world are provided by the I-84 freeway. It brushes the city on the west side and provides the town with good connections and travelers' facilities.
