Silver Lake
Lake County, 97638
Silver Lake is the last stop on Highway 31 headed north from Lakeview until one hits Highway 97 just south of LaPine. The lake itself is mostly marsh as is common throughout this area. The "silver" in the name comes from the white alkalai flats that appear as the lake dries in the summer. The most imposing landmark is Flat Top mountain at 5630 ft above sea level watching over the valley. The town has a church, a school, a few houses and a ranger station. That is about it.
