Colton
Clackamas County, 97017
Colton is a small town located about half way between Molalla and Estacada in Clackamas county. They have their own water supply system and development centers around that. The main road through town, Highway 211, moves a lot of traffic. Logging trucks once dominated the road, but now it is mostly big pickups with little work to do. Christmas trees are a big business in this area but otherwise there are few jobs. The town was established in 1892 along the banks of Milk Creek, a clear free flowing brook dropping out of the Cascade mountains to the east. When I get there on the right schedule I like to eat at the Colton cafe. If the schedule is wrong I stop at the store for a snack. The little high school here is well known for it high graduation rate, usually above 90%.
