Vale
Malheur County, 97918
Born and raised on the Oregon Trail
Vale counts itself as the first Oregon stop on the Oregon trail. Wagon ruts made by the pioneers are still available for you to see if that interests you. I have no idea where the name Vale came from but they have used it for a long time. The Vale post office was established in 1883. Main street is Highway 20, the Central Oregon highway. Vale is inland from the Snake rive about 12 miles so plenty of water is available for agriculture.
