Huntington
Baker Countiy, 97907
Huntington is the closest modern town to Farewell Bend, that famous place on the Oregon Trail where the pioneers left the Snake River for good. Brownlee reservoir is nearby backed up by the Brownlee dam on the Snake. The reservoir is a fishing Mecca for small mouth bass, catfish and other warm water species. The history of Huntington is very much the history of railroading. Its location proved excellent for the transport of inland agricultural crops down the Columbia. Today it still has a large switching yard and train tracks going all over the place.
