Adel
Lake County, 97620
Like several very small towns in Oregon Adel is for sale and the price is a bargain. Listed at $425,000 (Nov 2007) I am sure they are open to offers as health forces the present owners to move on. The town consists of a regular set of gas pumps, a card lock station (Pacific Pride), a small RV park and a restaurant/store combination all nestled on about two acres. The town lies at the crossroads of two good highways with ranches stretching into the distance in all directions. At 4200 ft above sea level the air is either clear and cold or clear and hot depending on the season. The sign says the population is 78. We did not see any real houses so I could not tell where the other 76 residents lived. The cafe sports a true ranch-deco interior complete with mounted dead animals, antlers galore and a good collection of saddles. I might stress that cell phone reception is good in Adel--one of my custormers caught up with me there and troubled my visit. I should have ignored the call.
