Jacksonville
Jackson County, 97530
A National Historic Landmark
Jacksonville is one of the most historic towns in Oregon. Its the kind of place where they take school bus loads of kids. I still remember being bored out of my mind looking at old buildings and old rooms full of old furniture. Now that kind of stuff interests me.
Jacksonville participated in the 1850's gold rush and was the seat of Jackson county until 1927. When the gold ran out and the railroad bypassed town the place was frozen in time. The old buildings were preserved as they were and now they form a national historic site.
