Lyons

Lyons is a little off the beaten path, and I suppose the residents like it that way. Heading up the Santiam river one turns right at Mehema, crosses the Santiam river and enter Lyons. As far as I can tell their claim to fame is being at the population center of Oregon. (I bet you did not know that!) Somehow this community survived the timber and logging decline with one good mill still operating. And unlike the communities further up the canyon Lyons is still within commuting distance of Salem.
