Wolf Creek
Josephine County, 97497
Wolves actually roamed most of Oregon at one time so the geographic name "Wolf Creek" is fairly common. This place is famous for the Wolf Creek Inn, a national historic register site. The first inn in the area was the Six Bit House located on the Applegate trail. Built in 1853 the original inn thirty years later became the Wolf Creek Inn. You can still eat and rent a room at this place making it the oldest continuously operating hotel in Oregon. It will cost you more than the six bits it used to cost! This place is just a short hop off the freeway and well worth a stop. The sense of history is palpable.
