Junction City
Lane County
When standing at the namesake junction for this city where Hiway 99 splits east and west I get no feeling of greatness or reflection. It is not "two roads diverged in a yellow wood, and sorry I could not be one travler and travel both" that I feel. I only get the feeling that I was there. Somewhat like standing with one foot in Canada and one in the United States: meaningless. But Junction City is still a nice little town that is proud of itself. When I was at the University of Oregon (late 1960's) I thought of Junction City as one big car sales lot. Now I know they have a successful Scandanavian festival and proud heritage. The town also has a railroad history as the old Oregon Electric line passes through town.
